Last night the kids and I were in line at Wal-Mart (picking up the new toys!) and the guy in front of us was complaining about the cost of his merchandise; made the cashier go through every single item on his receipt! I was hungry, the kids were hungry and we wanted to get on with our errands, but this guy was holding us up. I could tell when we got up to the cashier that she was upset so we tried to turn things around for her…I told her when we got ready to leave, “I hope your night gets better.” She responded, “That’s the nicest thing anyone has said to me all night.”
You’re probably asking, where the heck is Coach going with this…well there is a point. The point of kindness…I’ve heard people say that when they come to the box, they forget about everything else that is going on in their outside world, that CFU is their home away from home, that the people who make up CFU have a connection like no other…it’s because of the kindness bestowed on others. It’s through YOUR giving hearts to others what makes the HEART of CFU! Who would not want to be a part of this?? I have in the last 2 years tried to talk the talk and walk the walk and I just hope the people that I have come in contact (you all in particular) have received that kindness from me and it is my hope that what you get out of CFU helps with your everyday tasks with work, family, LIFE…
The other day, I believe it was Saturday, we had about 20 athletes in the class and just out of the blue (well, I think Andi said to do it π ) I see the “veteran” athletes introducing themselves to the newer people. I know that means a LOT to the newbies…to feel like they belong, because they do. They and YOU are part of a piece of AWESOMENESS in Jefferson City and I’m so excited for the future of CFU and you as athletes. Great things are in store, so hold on for another GREAT ride!! π
