WORDS THAT MATTER…

“Jonathan, Saul’s son, arose and went to David in the woods and strengthened his hand in God.” ~1 Samuel 23:16

Take a minute to think about someone who is a close friend. Can you recall a time when that person was merely an acquaintance? What was it that took your relationship from acquaintance to friend? A shared interest? Passion for a common cause? Perhaps a heated debate? However your friendship began, things are probably quite different in your relationship today. the polite “hello” of acquaintance days has grown into a vocabulary of deeper relationship, which includes spoken as well as unspoken sentiments. Jonathan was that kind of friend to David…These words of mere acquaintance might have been received with a smile and a thank-you, or maybe one of those you-don’t-know-what-you’re-talking-about looks. Yet those were words of encouragement from a true friend, and so the words mattered. Jonathan’s words could be trusted.

The trusted words of a friend can make a positive impact in your life. Listening requires humility, patience, and an open mind…Take the encouragement of a friend to hear. Let the words strengthen you. Even if you fail or fall, those words will provide a softer landing place. That’s because the encouraging words of a true friend are inseparable from the unspoken message of friendship-a message of caring and love.

The words above are not my own, they come from “Checklist for Life”…but it is what I believe. I believe that one simple word or deed could change the outcome of one’s day or even their life. Think about the encouragement you receive at CFU, from your family and friends…how does that keep you going? I’ve seen so many friendships develop in the last two/three years with my CrossFit Unstoppable journey and I’m so thankful that I get to continue this journey with YOU! You can count on your CFU family to keep on encouraging you to be BETTER THAN YESTERDAY!

I guess this “little” post was sparked by the amount of support the St. Louis runners received…I know I’m truly blessed to have all of the support that was given before and after the run. Really makes my heart happy! 🙂

I’m going to end with this because I KNOW that you are not where you want to be…”Be Patient. God isn’t finished with you yet.”~Phil 1:6

Blessings for your day, and remember…your words matter more than you think! 🙂
